I had a fantastic time representing Aronson and serving as a panelist at the IG3 conference at the Watergate Hotel. Our panel topic was “Security and Privacy – Why are we so bad at it?” and we shared some practical insights about the scope of the problem, some of the reasons behind the challenges, and most importantly some short term and long term advice for companies to address the problem holistically. One tip is to make sure your leaders/board understand that compliance is NOT security and use scenarios to paint a realistic picture for them of the consequences of not addressing identified risks.

Thanks to our moderator, Amit Garg, for getting us organized and managing the different points of view. A hearty shout out to my fellow panelists – Dr. Nnake Nweke, Cory Rutten, and Charlie Germano. I’d happily do this again with you guys. Lastly, thanks to Chris Lacour and IG3 for the opportunity. Looking forward to being back again.
